Wow! Where to start with the Burbano's coffee story?
Javier Burbano inherited a passion for coffee from his father and passed it on to his children - Edwin, Diego, Julían and Carolina - who grew up learning every aspect of coffee production on their grandparent's farm in El Tabor. Back then, the family sold conventional coffee through intermediairies, with no recognition or traceability.
After the death of Javier's father in 2000, the family was forced to sell their farm and start over on a small, high-altitude parcel called San Isidro. Despite losing multiple coffee harvests to harsh conditions, they persevered, planting 2,000 Caturea trees in 2012. For years, they sold their coffee to large multi-national buyers, but a breakthrough came when Carolina and her husband connected with specialty buyers. This is how this stunning, self-marketed specialty lot came to be and it is only their second release to the North American market.
